It's funny how much I find myself wanting to win this game, and make a statement. By November, it's likely this one contest's result won't have much of a bearing on things, but there just seems such a huge gulf between starting the season 1-0, and starting it 0-1. That's especially the case for a team like the Diamondbacks, which didn't have a single day above .500 last season. The last time we had a winning record was September 26, 2013, more than 18 months ago, so starting things off this year by putting that specter to rest would be a nice start. And, if we beat the Giants, it makes us World Champions! That IS how it works, isn't it?
Anyway, a quick reminder of the main SnakePit rule: be nice to each other. No matter what the game and, indeed, the entire season may bring, we are all Diamondback fans, and what unites us is more important than what divides us, be that our opinions on Mark Trumbo, the wave, or whatever. In the end, it's only a game, one of 162 that will take place over the next six months, and win or lose, let's enjoy the good, and not freak out over the bad. Because there will be plenty of both between now and the end of September.
