Game #13 Preview: 4/19, Arizona Diamondbacks @ San Francisco Giants

Jeremy Hellickson seeks to win his first game as a Diamondback. Hopefully it'll go better than his last two attempts.

The last game of the road-trip, with the Diamondbacks' record hanging in the balance, as we sit at an even .500, both for the road-trip (3-3) and on the season as a whole (6-6). Will we return home to Phoenix as winners or sinners? The former would, obviously, be preferable, not least because it would end Arizona's long streak of road series without a win, dating back to the last series of July in Cincinnati. Since then...

  • @ Cleveland - split two
  • @ Miami - lost three of four
  • @ Washington - swept in four
  • @ San Diego - split four
  • @ Los Angeles - swept in three
  • @ San Francisco - swept in three
  • @ Colorado - swept in four
  • @ Minnesota - lost two of three
  • @ San Diego - lost two of three

That included a streak of ten consecutive road defeats, which was the worst for Arizona since 2010. Could definitely do with a win today, but Hellickson has been distinctly underwhelming in his first two starts, and if he doesn't show some marked improvement, he may end up being cut when Corbin returns. Our other starters have either had some good starts or shown flashes of future potential, but Hellickson has yet to do so. As easily the most expensive member of the current rotation, we should be getting better performances.
