Dbacks MiLB Round-Up 4/18: O'Brien Homers

Peter O'Brien is leaving little doubt that his calling card is his bat. Since being sent back to the minors in spring training due to some defensive concerns at catcher O'Brien has been playing exclusively in the outfield for Reno. He has 3 home runs and 11 RBI in 10 games and one error on defense. Maybe he just needs to become an outfielder, a la Mark Trumbo, and let his bat do what it does.

Snake Stars
3 Stars: Peter O'Brien, Reno 2 for 4, 1 R, 1 HR (3), 3 RBI
2 Stars: Markus Solbach, Kane County 6.2 IP, 5 H, 4 BB, 5 K, 1 ER
1 Star: Fidel Pena, Visalia 3 for 4, 1 R, 1 DBL, 2 RBI
0 Stars: A.J. Schugel, Reno 3 IP, 7 H, 2 BB, 4 K, 7 ER, L (0-1)

AAA: Reno 4 Albuquerque 9. After getting a cup of coffee in the bigs last week A.J. Schugel got the start for Reno and it did not go well as he allowed 7 runs over 3 innings. The offense was no match for that scoring 4 with 3 coming off the bat of a Peter O'Brien 3-run homer. Danny Dorn and Nick Evans each chipped in 2 hits.

AA: Mobile - Rained Out.

A+: Visalia 6 @ Stockton 7. The Rawhide kept grabbing slim leads throughout the game only to have Stockton match them time after time. It finally ended when The Port got the walkoff win in the 11th on a sacrifice fly. Ryan Doran started and was so-so allowing 5 runs on 10 hits. Jose Jose took the loss in his 3rd inning of relief. Fidel Pena had a nice game going 3 for 4 with a double and 2 RBI. Daniel Palka had a pair of doubles and Kevin Cron hit a solo home run, his 3rd.

A: Kane County 1 @ Quad Cities 2. Markus Solbach pitched decently allowed just 1 run in 6+ innings, but the offense could only scratch out 1 run on 4 hits. Jency Solis took the loss. Cody Regis had a single and 2 walks.
