Diamondbacks 2, Padres 3

After getting 2 runs off Brandon Morrow early in the 1st inning, the D-backs offense fell asleep and Justin Upton made them pay.

Welp. Justin Upton hurts his old team again, this time with an 8th inning homer off Randall Delgado to give the Padres a 3-2 lead before giving way to Craig Kimbrel to close the door.

Paul Goldschmidt hit a 2-run home run in the 1st but poor base running led the Diamondbacks to squander two separate chances to increase their lead. Chase Anderson was actually pretty good in his 2nd start of the year for the Diamondbacks, going 6 innings and giving up only 2 runs in the best performance by a starter this season. But after a rocky 6th inning, he gave way for Randall Delgado who had a relatively easy 1 2/3rds innings before giving up a monster first pitch 2-out home run to, who else, Justin Upton.

Craig Kimbrel came on in the 9th to close it out and got a quick strikeout of Mark Trumbo before Jake Lamb singled with 1 out. A fly-out to centerfield by Aaron Hill made it 2 outs and David Peralta struck out on a 97 mph fastball to finish things off for the Padres.
