After arriving from the Colorado Rockies in the Ryan Wheeler trade in November 2012, Reynolds had a great start to the 2013 season. Over thirty appearances for the Diamondbacks, he had a sub-two ERA (1.98), but unfortunately, went down with an elbow issue in June, that led to him having Tommy John surgery in September, after suffering a setback during his rehab. That took him out for all of the 2014 campaign, but he was expected to be able to rejoin the Diamondbacks bullpen this season, alongside fellow left-handed reliever Oliver Perez.
If there's going to be a second left-hander out of the bullpen, it seems more likely to be a long one, with the the remaining candidates all being more used to starting: Vidal Nuno, Robbie Ray and Andrew Chafin. Alternatively, it's possible the team will go with six right-handers and just Perez as a leftie, though given the heavily right-hand skewed nature of our rotation, I'd personally be inclined to break camp with two left-handed relief options. That decision may well depend on what happens with the fifth starter spot, which may go to Daniel Hudson or Randall Delgado, who otherwise will need to be found bullpen positions.
