Arizona Diamondbacks make seven roster moves

The Arizona Diamondbacks made 7 roster moves, as announced by D-backs Sr. Vice President & General Manager Dave Stewart:

Reassigned to Minor League camp:
  • RHP, Jake Barrett
  • OF, Danny Dorn
  • INF, Nick Evans
  • C, Peter O'Brien
  • RHP, J.C. Ramírez
  • INF, Jamie Romak
  • INF, Danny Worth

The only one of the seven who was considered to have a shot at an Opening Day roster spot is O'Brien, but as was noted earlier in the week, the team appear to have soured somewhat on that possibility. Neither O'Brien's bat nor his throwing arm had been up to much this spring, with him experiencing some issues even with simple tasks like throwing the ball back to the pitcher. This certainly doesn't mean it's the end of the story for O'Brien, but he can now work on these issues in the minor leagues. It now appears to be a straight fight between Tuffy Gosewisch and Gerald Laird, as to who will be the starter, and who's the backup.

Of the others, Romak put up the best numbers, with a spring line of .286/.348/.524. Ramirez also had his moments, striking out eight batters in his six innings of work.
