Arizona Diamondbacks @ the winter meetings: Day 1 Open Thread

We'll have one of these each day, to act as a general open forum for discussions, rumors and chit-chat, so feel free to dump anything of interest in here [preferably from the original source, rather than second-hand links like MLB Trade Rumors] As and when anything of particular momentum appears, that will get spun off into it's own story for particular discussion, but treat this, I guess, as a cross between Snake Bytes and a Gameday Thread, in terms of comment and chit-chat.

Note that this isn't strictly limited to D-backs news, because it will be interesting to see how the Giants and Dodgers respond, to having their Christmas pony yanked out of the stable. Both teams responded by picking up lower-tier starting pitchers over the weekend, the Dodgers getting Hisashi Iwakuma and the Giants agreeing to terms with Jeff Samardzija; Los Angeles are also reported (at time of writing, late Sunday night) to be closing in on a deal for Reds' closer Aroldis Chapman, so we'll see how that develops over the course of the next few days. The pressure seems to be on them, with the D-backs having stolen the pre-meeting thunder. How will they respond? Stay tuned...
