The Twins did all of their damage in the first two innings with the help of three walks and a batter hit by a pitch from Vidal Nuno. Arizona's starter walked in Minnesota's first run of the game in the first inning with the bases loaded, and eventually escaped with little damage done.
In the second, the Twins loaded the bases up again and Trevor Plouffe hit a sacrifice fly to center to score Eduardo Escobar from third and extend the lead to two runs.
The Diamondbacks got one back in the sixth off Twins starter Phil Hughes when A.J. Pollock scored on a David Peralta sacrifice fly. Randall Delgado came in relief of Nuno in the sixth and threw up two straight zeros, keeping the D-backs in the ball game.
Jordan Pacheco had a two-out double in the ninth, but Jared Burton closed the door when Didi Gregorious grounded out. Arizona has lost two in a row.
