Collmenter has been insanely good of late. Over his last four starts, all against divisional opposition, he has allowed two earned runs in 27.2 innings, holding opposing hitters to a .154 average. A good chunk of that, frankly, is probably just luck, given his BABIP of .194, but he has only issues four walks in that time, and if he keeps up this good control,. it will certainly help to limit the damage, when the hits start missing fielders and dropping in. On the position player front, Pennington takes third tonight: Jake Lamb, who has been experiencing problems with his quad. It'll perhaps be the next series before we see him again.
Should be an interesting broadcast tonight, with Fox Sports Arizona doing a catchers' special, to give us a glimpse of how they see and function before and during the game. Montero will be wearing a mic while warming up with Collmenterin in the pen, former D-backs catcher Kelly Stinnett will be offering in-game observations from the scout's section behind home-plate, Tuffy Gosewisch will talk to the booth via headset during the 2nd inning. Of course, former catcher Bob Brenly will also be giving his insights alongside Steve Berthiaume. There's a reason so many managers used to wear the mask, and this promises to be highly informative.
