Whether you like Taco Bell or not, it's hard to argue that the Dbacks Special is not the best know Diamondbacks-related promotion going on right now, and it's also been closely connect to Fang Food since before the beginning. The first food related post I did on the 'Pit was a review of the special, then last year I did my own version with fajitas, so the Special is something of a tradition here. This year, I'm going to make my family's taco recipe. I just did a scouting report for fish tacos last week, and I don't really have anything else to add, so I'm just going to skip to the recipe.
Beef Tacos
Makes enough for about four people
Ingredients:
2 teaspoons dried minced onion
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon cornstarch
1/2 teaspoon crushed dried red pepper
1/2 teaspoon dried minced garlic
1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
1/4 cup water
1 lb. ground beef
Directions:
Combine all the seasonings together in a bowl. Brown the ground beef. Drain. Add the seasoning mix and water, then simmer until the water reduces down and is almost syrup-like. Then it's ready; It's that simple!
After that, you can do a lot with it. I like to put it in a soft tortilla with refried beans and cheese to make a bean burrito, but really it's up to you. You could put it in a taco shell with lettuce, diced tomatoes, and sour cream, and actually recreate the Dbacks special at home. It's completely up to you!
By consuming them, we absorb their strengths. It's just like cannibalism. Only with a lower chance of contracting a horrible brain disease. ~ Jim McLennan Join Blake, (imstillhungry95) and Patrick (Turambar) as we explore the food and drink of our opponents throughout the season.
