A lackluster offense and poor starting pitching once again doomed the Diamondbacks. Miley needed 58 pitches to get through two innings and faced 15 batters during that time. He gave up three runs, five hits, four walks, and only got one strike out. Two of the three runs were walked in with the bases loaded. To say he struggled is an understatement. He hit third in the third and was pulled in favor of a pinch hitter. Spruil came in and pitched fairly well, but thanks to an Ender Inciarte error gave up two runs in the sixth.
The offense might actually have been worse tonight. They failed to get a baserunner for the first three innings before Inciarte hit a lead off home run in the fourth inning. After that, they basically failed for the rest of the night. With only a few more hits on the night, it was hardly a hitting clinic on the night. Full recap to follow shortly.
