It all goes back to this, the aftermath of a Gameday Thread for a game which featured a comeback apparently "inspired" by the posting of My Little Pony pics. Every year since then, on the same date, we have marked the event by a recreation of sorts. Or, as one reader put it this morning:
Pony Day at @AZSnakepit is a lot like Christmas: it only happens once a year & puts the adult in charge through endless frustration. #Dbacks

To which I replied:
@curryalley Only if Christmas involves the adult in charge abandoning the kids and going down the pub to drink heavily. So, quite a lot then

It promises to be...silly. But can the power of the ponies actually pull a win out for Trevor Cahill? Those would have to be Some Ponies, to borrow a line from Charlotte's Web, considering his last win was April 23, and he's 0-6 in eight starts this season. Counterpoint: it's the Rockies, who managed to allow David Peralta to steal home on a lollipop throw back from the catcher. So, the odds are better than normal of an equine-inspired victory for the Diamondbacks this evening. Here is what will be my sole contribution to proceedings.
