Tankapalooza update. We sit in sole possession of third place, two games behind this weekend's opponent, Colorado, and three behind Texas. We're one game ahead of Houston in fourth, with Boston a further two games back. The Astros and Rangers face off this weekend as well, so with all four top Tankapalooza teams facing each other, this could prove to be a key series in the race for the first pick in the 2015 draft. We have form on our side: the other three have all played .500 baseball over the past ten games, while the Diamondbacks have gone 2-8, tied with the White and Red Sox for the worst in baseball. The former are slightly worse over the past 20 (5-15 vs. our 6-14).

In other, utterly unsurprising news, Xavier Paul was released by the Diamondbacks today, to make way for Nolan Reinhold. I suspect that, when I do a Saturday Sporcle in a couple of years on the 2014 roster, both of those name will appear as spoiler text in the comments, with "I completely forgot ______ was ever a Diamondback." It is probably significant that the team's press office couldn't even be bothered to send out a release notifying people of Paul's departure. And if they couldn't be arsed to do that, I'm damned if I'm going to write up a piece on it. What can I say? "He became the second Diamondback in team history to hit .100 or less with 20+ PAs"?

But, for amusement, it's Classic TV Night at Chase Field this evening, so here's the intro being used by Fox Sports, which is pretty cool.
