Dbacks MiLB Round-Up 8/15: Wrong-Way Blowouts

Not a particularly good night for the affiliates as they went 2-4 with 3 pretty bad blowouts. Almost no good pitching to speak of on the night with only a good outing from Markus Solbach to speak of.

Snake Stars
3 Stars: Markus Solbach, Hillsboro 7 IP, 4 H, 1 BB, 6 K, 2 ER, W (1-0)
2 Stars: Nick Ahmed, Reno 3 for 5, 2 R, 1 DBL, 1 RBI
1 Star: Mike Jacobs, Reno 3 for 5, 2 R, 1 DBL, 1 RBI
0 Stars: John Omahen, Visalia 2 IP, 11 H, 0 BB, 2 K, 10 ER, L (3-3)

AAA: Reno 11 @ Round Rock 9. Bo Schultz wasn't particularly sharp but he still got the win in the wacky PCL. He allowed 6 runs (5 earned) on 10 hits and a walk over 5 innings and that was good enough. The offense cranked out 8 runs in the first 3 innings led by 3-hit nights from Nick Ahmed, Mike Jacobs and Blake Lalli. Andy Marte hit a 3-run homer in the 4rd inning and Danny Dorn hit a 2-run shot in the 1st. Jake Barrett got the final 2 outs for his 11th save.

AA: Mobile 3 @ Pensacola 8. Clayton Richard wasn't bad getting through 5 innings allowing 3 runs (2 earned) on 4 hits and 2 walks. But Alex Sogard followed and gave up 2 runs in the 6th and 3 more in the 7th and that was that. Most of the offense came from Dustin Martin's too-little-too-late 2-run homer in the 8th.

A+: Visalia 2 @ Modesto 11. John Omahen got tattoed for 10 runs in the first 3 innings and that probably sent most of the fans home early. The offense did come up with 10 hits but that was still no match. Kevin Medrano and Socrates Brito each had 2 hits with a double.

A: South Bend 3 Lansing 6. Blake Perry was good other than the 5-spot he surrendered in the 3rd inning and the offense never threatened with just 3 hits. Justin Williams had 2 RBI without the benefit of a hit. He's hitting .225 with 1 extra base hit for South Bend after 11 games so it's looking like he's going to need some more adjustment time. But considering SSS a 4 for 5 night would clean that up in a hurry.

A-: Hillsboro 5 Boise 4. Markus Solbach had a solid outing allowing 2 runs over 7 innings and the Hops offense did enough to make him a winner, just barely. They only had 7 hits but made them count. Elvin Soto had 2 hits with a walk, a double and an RBI. Fireballing rookie Mason McCullough was given the chance to close the game for a save but his noteworthy wildness raised its ugly head and he walked 3 and allowed a hit before Dustin Loggins came in to put out the fire and preserve the win.

R: Missoula - Rained Out

AZL: Dbacks 1 @ Rangers 14. Normally reliable Anfernee Benitez gave up 7 runs in the 1st inning while only recording 1 out and there wasn't much reason to watch after that. There was also some bullpen misery to add to that but hardly worth mentioning. The offense had 6 hits, all singles with 2 each from Ismael Pena and Gerard Hernandez.
