The second game of the doubleheader will be getting under way in a bit, and is notable for the Diamondbacks, largely because it will be the major-league debut of Andrew Chafin. The 24-year-old was one of our first-round picks in 2011, being selected #43 overall. Over four seasons in the minor leagues, has a 3.95 ERA in 412.1 innings of work, with 73 starts in his 81 appearances, with a K:BB ratio of 373:175. This season, he has split time between Double-A Mobile and Triple-A Reno, with his ERA significantly better at the former (1.96) than the latter (5.40). Of course, how much is down to the environment, is hard to tell.
Chafin has been with the team for some time without appearing in a game, having been called up on August 8th. Obviously, this wasn't done with the intention of there being rain in Cleveland the following week, resulting in a double-header, but it has worked out fairly nicely. I don't have any details on the other members of line-up for Arizona at this point, because the first game is still going on. I have to shuffle recapping that and writing the preview for this one, semi-simultaneous, so expect the line-up to appear in the Gameday Thread. Which I should probably also be getting on with before too long. :)
