Tweets at the Plate
If this week will have any lasting place in baseball history, it's for the play at the plate in Philadelphia on Sunday which gave the Phillies the lead. Hopefully, it'll help lead to a change in a rule which, apparently, was written on the back of a napkin at the end of a well-lubricated lunch-hour. And everyone knows it.
That interpretation of collision rule missed spirit of the rule. Howard had no path. But when you're out by 20 feet you can't be called safe
— Jayson Stark (@jaysonst) July 27, 2014
Unfortunate call at home. Howard was poised to be out by a mile. Instead it's interference. Frustrating.
— Jody Jackson (@Jody_Jackson) July 27, 2014
Wait, what? Ryan Howard is thrown out at home, never touches the plate and is still awarded a run. #Dbacks trail 3-2 after 6.
— Arizona Diamondbacks (@Dbacks) July 27, 2014
Pretty sure the intent of the new blocking-the-plate rule is not to permit obviously out baserunners a loophole to be safe. #Whatthe...

The Games in Diamondback Tweets

Most shocking thing about Peralta's two triples: Seeing in the in-game note sent out by #Dbacks PR that Miguel Montero did it too.
— Adam Lichtenstein (@ALichtenstein24) July 23, 2014
Also, really appreciate J.D. checking on me from 1st base. Classy move. Next time, don't hit it so hard, please.

Judging by the state of the press box bathroom, we sportswriters have worse command issues than Trevor Cahill is having.
— Zach Buchanan (@azc_zachb) July 23, 2014
Just a word of advice...Don 't pick your nose and eat it when the fan cam is going around!!! @Dbacks #NoBoogerZone

Bases loaded for the #Dbacks. Do we: A. Strikeout B. Flyout C. Groundout D. All of the above (we would somehow manage this)
— Charles Woodall-Pike (@CactusOnIce) July 26, 2014
The @Dbacks announcers are impressed with the flowers in the outfield and bullpen #Phillies

Jumbo gives the hit to Trumbo. The Reds announcers are Dumbos and I'm craving Gumbo.
— Tyler Clack (@Chalmer73) July 29, 2014
Fortunately, the #Dbacks dont need a rested bullpen tomorrow what with Trevor Cahill starting tomorrow's afternoon game. #PitchParra
