Diamondbacks 2, Reds 1

Just a brisk walk in the park, eh?

Chase Anderson only gave up hits in the 2nd inning, unfortunately one of the was a home run give up to Devin Mesoraco to make it 1-0 Reds. Fortunately, he was able to limit that damage thanks in part to Brayan Pena being thrown out by about 20 feet while trying to score. Unlike the last time that happened, there were no Posey related shenanigans to overturn it.

The Diamondbacks tied the game in the 4th thanks to a Mark Trumbo double that bounced off of Jay Bruce's glove, and a Miguel Montero single.

The score remained that way for a very long time, as both Anderson and Homer Bailey were on point. The D'Backs had a chance to score in the 7th, with runners at first and third with one out and Nick Ahmed up. After a failed squeeze attempt, he grounded into a double play to end the threat.

Aroldis Chapman threw a lot of very fast pitches, and Brad Ziegler had two innings of not-so-fast pitches in relief and the game went into extras.

The game went meekly into the 15th when Martin Prado got on on a walk, got to second on a Didi Gregorius groundout, and then scored on a Nick Ahmed single to make it 2-1! Addison Reed was slightly squiffy, but got the save.
