Diamondbacks 3, Cubs 2

It took until their 99th game of the season, but Arizona finally has its first home sweep of the year, finishing off the Cubs with a tight 3-2 victory on Star Wars Day at Chase Field

Both starters pitched well, Josh Collmenter and Jake Arrieta trading zeroes through the first five innings. It was the Cubs who got on the board first, Anthony Rizzo hammering his 23rd home-run of the year in the sixth. However, the D-backs fought right back, tying the game up with back-to-back doubles by Ender Inciarte and David Peralta, then taking the lead after Rizzo fell into the dugout snagging a foul ball, allowing all baserunners a free base, which brought Peralta home. Peralta then drove in Arizona's third, scoring Mark Trumbo who had just stolen his first base as a D-back [albeit only after a review reversed the call]

Collmenter went seven strong innings, allowing one run on four hits and a walk, with four strikeouts. Brad Ziegler didn't have his best stuff, giving up a pair of one-out doubles in the eighth to make it a one-run game, before stranding the tying run on third. And Addison Reed, brought in to protect that same one-run lead, allowed a one-out single before closing the door and putting Arizona at 3-0 since the break. Next up, the Detroit Tigers, who start a three-game series here tomorrow, and should generally be a bit of a sterner test.

freeland1787 should be the scheduled guest recapper, but I only emailed him to remind him about it this morning, so I can't say for sure. He was supposed to be going to the game, so it might be a while...
