Josh Collmenter wobbled in and out of trouble all night it seemed, but never quite broke. It took him 109 pitches to get through five innings, but the only run allowed was the result of an ill-advised dive by Ender Inciarte, with two outs in the first, which turned a single into an RBI triple for the Raccoon Formerly Known As Obese. Arizona tied things up on an RBI single by Aaron Hill in the fourth, who then came around to score himself on a Martin Prado double. The fifth inning saw Arizona get a run on Chris Owings' triple, though he was out at the plate trying to score, and a Hill sacrifice fly in the sixth completed our scoring.
Goldschimidt doubled, singled and walked against Lincecum, with the double making a lot of people think he had slammed another home-run. After Collmenter left the game, the bullpen took over and performed very solidly, with Oliver Perez, Evan Marshall, Brad Ziegler and Addison Reed combining for four shutout innings on one hit and no walks. Collmenter got the win for five innings of one-run ball, on four hits and four walks with four strikeouts, and Reed struck out the side in the ninth for his 17th save. And we'll be back at Chase tomorrow night as Brandon McCarthy takes on Ryan Vogelsong.
Stick about for the Turambar beercap, coming your way real soon....
