For most of this game, we had a pitcher's duel between Bronson Arroyo and Brad Peacock. Through the sixth inning, the Diamondbacks only managed three baserunners. One of them was a Paul Goldschmidt splash-down home run, his first, to put them on the score board, but they were still pretty futile. The Astros faired better against Arroyo, to some extent, managing six hits and two walks, but most of those baserunners came in the first two innings, and then after that, they were shut down for the rest of Arroyo's start.
In the seventh inning, though, the Dbacks offense stepped things up a notch, getting two runs. A lot of that was courtesy of some questionable offense on the part of Dexter Fowler and Johnathon Villar, but I don't think anyone is going to argue. They added another insurance run in the eighth to make the score 4-1 which was also the final. Brad Zeigler pitched a scorless eighth, and Addison Reed came in for the save. Full recap to follow.
