SnakePit Fantasy Baseball: Week 5

Another rough week for the leaders. It seems appropriate to mention, I just watched Crystal Palace score three goals in the last 12 minutes to snatch a tie with Liverpool, and possibly wreck the latter's title hopes....

Week 5 Results

AZ SnakePit 9, Trumboner 1
The week's biggest blowout saw AZ sweep hitting, led by three HR and seven RBI from Stanton, with Morneau homering twice. Trumboner's sole success was in K's, behind Bumgarner (W + 14 K), but Snake wrapped up a convincing victory with a W + 15 K from Lester, and Romo's three Saves.

Gregorius B.I.G. 6, Mizzoula Osprey 4
Mizzoula limped to an unprecedented third straight defeat, albeit a narrow one: B.I.G. took ERA by .03 and that was enough. Hudson's Win and six strikeouts were crucial, along with three homers from Jennings. The Osprey got a pair of homers from Villar, and a Win and six strikeouts by Porcello.

Sofa King Juiced 4, MyWieterGetzLongoria 4
A tie seems a fair result: Sofa edged hitting, though SB ended tied, but Wieter did the same on the mound, where Sv were level. Morse (Juiced) was the only player here with two homers, and drove in five. Hawkins vultured a Win in addition to a pair of Saves for Longoria, helping to secure the tie.

Disabled Waffles 6, Angry Saguaro 3
Despite having five men on the DL, Waffles still cobbled together enough hitting for the win, Montero, Abreu and Cruz all homering twice. They also got 16 strekouts from Gonzalez. Saguaro were led by a W and two Sv from Hunter, while Uribe had six RBI in a losing cause for them.

CGS 7, Space Wizard 3
CGS took all five hitting points, behind Rizzo's two home-runs and Hunter's seven driven in; a HR and five RBI from Mauer was Space's best performance. They did better in pitching, Pitcher of the Week Fernandez giving them a W and 18 K, but three Saves for Smith let CGS coast to victory.

Trail-Hitters 2, The Rusty Trumbones 7
And then there were none. The last undefeated team fell hard, their pitching imploding to a 5.87 ERA. The Trumbones got 18 K from Kluber, and came within one Sv of a sweep on the mound. They also got six SB from Gordon; the Hitters' best hitter was Yelich, with two HR and six RBI.

Got Grittiness? 4, Alabama Slammers 5
This relegation clash went to Alabama by the slimmest margin; Sv ending tied, but taking RBI by one was just as crucial. Hitter of the Week Tulowitzki (Two HR, eight RBI) ledtheir offense. Got had 11 HR, headed by two HR and seven R for Saltalamacchia, but a team 8.39 ERA was a big problem.

Trail-Hitters will seek to rebound against Space Wizard, in the ESPN Game of the Week. Rodriguez has piled up 14 Saves already, but they will need their pitching to improve. Wizard still have the same team they selected on Draft Day, Fernandez proving their best player to date, with a 1.74 ERA and amazing K-rate of 12.5 per nine innings.
