The Diamondbacks scored first off of Tyson Ross in the bottom of the 2nd when Cliff Pennington hit a weak grounder that bounced off Chase Headley's glove and went into center field. Alexi Amarista decided to overrun the ball for some reason, and in addition to Martin Prado scoring from third, Cody Ross scored from first to make it 2-0.
The Padres got to Brandon McCarthy in the fifth inning for four runs, all off of the long-ball. Yonder Alonso lead things off with a solo-shot to make it 2-1, then Evereth Cabrera hit a three-run dinger to make it 4-2 Padres.
The Diamondbacks retook the lead in the bottom of the 6th when A.J. Pollock, Gerardo Parra, and Paul Goldschmidt, and Miguel Montero had consecutive singles to tie the game up. Martin Prado was about 6 feet too low for his first homer of the season, but still got an RBI double to make it 5-4. Should be noted that this created a runners on second and third with no outs situation and no more runs scored
The Padres tied it up on a Cabrera RBI double in the 7th, but the D'Backs took the day in the bottom of the 9th when A.J. Pollock hit a monster home run to right center off of Kevin Quackenbush to set the final score at 7-5
