D-backs recall Marte from Triple-A Reno, option Campana to Reno

The Arizona Diamondbacks recalled outfielder Alfredo Marte from Triple-A Reno and optioned outfielder Tony Campana to Reno, according to D-backs Executive Vice President & General Manager Kevin Towers.

Marte, 24, will wear No. 17 in his second stint with the D-backs. In 26 games for the Aces this season, he hit .342 (27-for-79) with 5 doubles, 1 triple, 1 homer and 11 RBI while playing left field and right field. He hit .352 (19-for-54) off righties and .320 (8-for-25) off lefties. He played most recently last night, going 0-for-2 @ Las Vegas.

Last season, Marte made his first Opening Day roster and appeared in 22 games for the D-backs, including his Major League debut on April 2 vs. Cardinals. In 86 games for the Aces, he hit .280 (87-for-311) with 24 doubles, 7 homers and 48 RBI despite missing a month on the disabled list from May 21-June 15 after being hit by a pitch in his face resulting in 3 fractures.

Marte, a native of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, has played parts of 9 seasons in the D-backs organization. In 707 Minor League games, he has batted .277 (735-for-2,656) with 164 doubles, 18 triples, 58 homers and 387 RBI.

Campana, 27, appeared in 23 games for the D-backs after making his first Opening Day roster. He had 4 stolen bases (5 attempts) while batting .160 (8-for-50) with 1 double, 1 triple and 2 RBI.
