The Nationals got on the scoring ledger first in the initial frame when Anthony Rendon hit a sac-fly to score Denard Span to make it 1-0. Tyler Moore got a solo shot in the second to make it 2-0.
The Diamondbacks answered back in the third on RBI doubles by Martin Prado and Paul Goldschmidt, as well as a single by Miguel Montero to make it 3-2 Diamondbacks. That lead was not held for long, as Collmenter gave up a lead-off walk to Wilson Ramos and then a two-run homer to Ian Desmond in the next half-inning to make it 4-3.
That was all of the scoring until the bottom of the sixth when A.J. Pollock hit a two-run shot to make it 5-4. Various pieces of the bullpen that included Randall Delgado, Evan Marshall, and Brad Ziegler held this lead, however Addison Reed felt like being different, and gave up two solo home runs, one to Danny Espinosa and one to Kevin Frandsen to lose both a lead and a tie game.
Ender Inciarte got a hit to lead off the bottom of the ninth, but Eric Chavez hit into a double play. Gerardo Parra hit a double, but Martin Prado grounded out to end the game.
Still terrible at home.
