New, 1 comment

Another week, another leader at the top of Division 1. It's still very close, with only 6.5 points separating first and tenth.

Week 6 results

AZ SnakePit 8, Disabled Waffles 2
Neither team had great pitching, but SnakePit got three Sv from Romo and Reed, the latter also vulturing a W. Cishek and Miller got two W apiece for Waffles. Ramirez and Frasier each went deep twice for AZ, while Escobar had six stolen-bases and drove in five, in a losing effort.

Gregorius B.I.G. 2, Trumboner 7
A lot of categories were close - BA decided by .004, ERA by .02 - but Trumboner came out on top, with four Saves by Rodney and three from Perkins. Bailey got a W and 11 K's for Gregorius. At the plate, Gomes homered twice for them, as did Espinosa and Gomez for Trumboner.

Sofa King Juiced 4, Mizzoula Osprey 5
Mizzoula got off the slide, by the narrowest margin: neither side had a save, and that was enough. Sofa got three HR and 10 RBI from Cabrera, Pitcher of the Week Scherzer getting two W + 15 K. Samardzija fanned 14 for the Osprey, with Hitter of the Week Encarnacion getting four HR and 10 RBI.

MyWieterGetzLongoria 2, Alabama Slammers 8
Martinez and Tulowitzki each had four HR weeks for the Slammers, Ackley chipping in with a pair. They took four of five on both hitting and pitching, Greinke leading them in the latter with a Win and nine strikeouts. Melancon saved three for Longoria, who also got two HR by Beltre.

CGS 5, Angry Saguaro 5
Nothing to separate these two. CGS edged hitting, behind two HR and ten Runs from Reyes, countered by Angry's six Runs and seven RBI by Ramirez. The Saguaro reversed things on the mound, Lyles giving them two Wins and 13 strikeouts; Darvish's near no-hitter gave CGS a W + 12 K.

Trail-Hitters 4, Space Wizard 4
Trail were held to a tie by Space, with W and SB both ending tied. The Hitters had an advantage on offense, behind Jones's three HR and six RBI, though Brantley had two HR and seven RBI for the Wizard. They also got sixteen K's by Hamels, while Trail got a Win and Sv from Rodriguez.

Got Grittiness? 3, The Rusty Trumbones 7
The Trumbones swept pitching, with a 2.26 ERA, getting a Win and nine strikeouts from Kluber, almost matched by Kazmir's Win and seven K's for Got. Grittiness also got thee HR and eight RBI from Gyorko, and Cespedes had three HR, but Kemp's .400 allowed Rusty to hold on.

The Rusty Trumbones vs. Alabama Slammers

The Trumbones will take on the Slammers in the ESPN game of the week. After a slow start, Rusty are hot, having won their last four rounds and not conceded more than three points in the process. Alabama are also getting on a roll, with a smaller two-week unbeaten run, having outscored the opposition 13-6 in that time. Dee Gordon (ranked #6) leads the Trumbones, while the Slammers will hope Troy Tulowitzki (#1) can continue his MVP-level play.
