SnakePit Fantasy Baseball: Week 1

It seems a long time since Opening Day in Sydney, but it's all covered by the first round of match-ups in the SnakePit Fantasy League. Who roared out of the gates, and who did a good impression of the Diamondbacks?

Week 1 Results

AZ SnakePit 1, Gregorius B.I.G. 7
Perhaps closer than it seemed, especially in pitching with W + K tied, and BIG taking K and HR by two. Still, they swept hitting, led by two HR and eight RBI  for CarGo, despite two HR and 12 RBI from Stanton for Snake. Gallardo won twice for Gregorius and K'd seven. Feldman got two W's for AZ

Sofa King Juiced 3, Angry Saguaro 6
Newcomers Saguaro got off to a winning start, piling up 75 K's, behing 16 from Wainwright and 14 by Liriano. At the plate, they also got two home-runs and seven driven in by Cuddyer. Sofa did have Pitcher of the Week Fernandez (two W, 19 K), but hit only .223, though De Aza homered three times.

MyWieterGetzLongoria 5, Space Wizard 3
Wieter can credit their win to Hitter of the Week Trumbo, who clubbed five home runs and drove in 13. Miller (Wieter) and Trout (Wizard) both homered twice with five RBI. Pitching was more even, with W and Sv tied. Fernandez (no - the Miami one) had two W + 17 K for Space; Price fanned 12 for Wieter.

Mizzoula Osprey 8, The Rusty Trumbones 2
Reigning champions Mizzoula got their title defense off to a strong start. They took all five hitting categories, though R by only one, and BA by 10 points. Desmond homered twice for them, Kemp for the Trombones. Ryu (W + 14 K) anchored Mizzoula's pitching, while Weaver struck out 12 in a losing effort.

Trumboner 8, Got Grittiness? 1
The week's biggest blow-out went to Trumboner, who piled up 13 HR behind four by Belt, with Giants teammate Pagan adding eight RBI. Bautista had three HR for Got, whose only win was in WHIP. Bumgarner led all pitchers here, with a W and 13 strikeouts for Trumboner, Gray added a W + 10 K.

Waffles 3, Trail-Hitters 6
Ironically, oitching was the key to the Hitters' success this week, with Kimbrel notching a trio of Saves and Cashner striking out 11. Hutchinson had a W + 10 strikeouts for Waffles. On offense, they also got two HR and four RBI by Cruz, tallies which were matched by Posey for the Trail-Hitters.

CGS 6, Alabama Slammers 4
An impressive 1.86 collective ERA highlights CGS's week, with 17 K's for Cueto, though Alabama took most points there, behind Greinke (two W, 13 K) and Sale (two W, 14 K). CGS came through at the plate, led by Arenado's two HR and six RBI. Bruce and Hamilton also homered twice for them.
