Quotables

"That's the wish of every baseball player -- to feel the way I feel right now for the entire season. That would be awesome. We know this game includes ups and downs and hopefully it's more ups than downs this year. Hopefully, try to keep the same approach for the remainder of the season."

- Miguel Montero

"The night-to-day stuff for Miggy, we are going to try to minimize that, certainly at this point. I think anybody gets beat down catching. That goes for any player. I played the outfield, and after 155 games you are toast."

- Kirk Gibson, on giving Miguel Montero a day off on Wednesday

Another blown save costs D-backs series finale | FOX Sports
The D-backs lost four- and two-run leads while losing three of four games in their home-soil-opening series against the Giants, the latter coming when Will Harris gave up five runs in the top of the eighth inning in San Francisco's 8-5 comeback victory at Chase Field. Angel Pagan's three-run home run broke a 5-all tie.

D-backs blow late lead, drop series finale to Giants | FOX Sports
Angel Pagan hit a three-run home run in San Francisco's five-run eighth inning and the Giants rallied to beat the Diamondbacks 8-5 on Thursday in a game that was halted briefly in the top of the first due to a swarm of bees in the outfield.

Diamondbacks-Giants game delayed by swarm of bees | FOX Sports
Thursday's game against the Giants at Chase Field was delayed for about 3 minutes after the third pitch of the game from D-backs starter Bronson Arroyo when a swarm of bees invaded the outfield. Arizona center fielder A.J. Pollock had to come in to the infield, standing beside second baseman Aaron Hill while waiting for the bees to move on from near the pool area in right-center field.

Bullpen struggles again as Diamondbacks fall to 1-5 | azcentral.com
If the Diamondbacks had lost Thursday because starter Bronson Arroyo didn't make it out of the fifth inning, it'd probably be easier to stomach. Instead, it was a familiarly leaky bullpen that helped the Diamondbacks to an 8-5 loss to the San Francisco Giants at Chase Field, dooming Arizona to a 1-3 series loss and a 1-5 start to the season.

David Hernandez does best to get through missed year | azcentral.com
David Hernandez thought it was typical spring-training soreness that he could pitch through. But the Diamondbacks sent him to get a "precautionary" MRI and Hernandez was stunned when he found out he not only had a torn ligament that required Tommy John surgery but a bone spur as well.

Miguel Montero's fresh outlook; Trevor Cahill's outing; other stuff | Nick Piecoro on azcentral.com
Like most of the rest of his teammates, Miguel Montero couldn't touch Tim Hudson on Wednesday night. But the first four games of the season provided enough reason for hope that a crowd of reporters huddled around Montero before the game to quiz him about his impressive start.
