We didn't get to see much of Arroyo during the regular season, as a swollen disk in his back limited him to a couple of appearances in the Cactus League. But he apparently got his work in while the team was away in Australia, and has pronounced himself fit and ready for the season, thereby continuing his long, ongoing streak of never having had to be put on the DL. That's kinda impressive, especially for a pitcher. I wonder what the modern record is? Anyway, we could certainly do with Arroyo delivering a similar kind of performance as the Giants' crafty veteran signing, Tim Hudson, did last night - as mentioned in the GDT, their costs were comparable.

Line-up reverts a bit, with Pollock and Owings returning at the bottom of the order, after having a night off yesterday. With it being a day game after a night game, no surprise that it gives Gosewisch his first start of the season, in place of Miguel Montero. Probably helps that Miggy has struggled against Timmeh in the past with a career line of .182/.224/.255. That's in a hefty 58 PAs too - he'll likely overtake Troy Tulowitzki (59 PA) this afternoon as the player with most experience against Lincecum. Oddly, though it's a day game, it's still the last NL action today. Indeed, could be that everything will be finished by the time ours gets under way, as the other games are all far East of us.

soco on his first recap of the year. At least it's a day game, so the new father will be able to get an early night. :)
