The Diamondbacks have acquired RHP Lucas Harrell from the Houston Astros for either a PTBNL or cash.

Those of you who made a prop bet for April 28th as the date of the first in-season Diamondbacks trade: collect your winnings! (Also, you're probably a degenerate gambler and need help) RHP Lucas Harrell has been acquired from the Astros for either a PTBNL or cash . Harrell was recently designated for assignment by the Astros and cleared waivers and was in AAA Oklahoma City. He will report to the Reno Aces.

The aged 28 Harrell made his big league debut in 2010 with the White Sox. He was claimed off waivers by the Astros in 2011. His first two seasons with Houston saw him put up ERAs of 3.46 and 3.76. However, the minute the Astros went to the American league, his ERA went south to 5.86 in 2013 and 9.49 thus far in 2013. He will be arbitration-eligible starting next year.

Harrell's pitching archetype is that of a ground-ball specialist. In 2012, he had a 57% ground ball rate. He relies on a two-seam fastball that sits around 91-93. He also has a slider, curve, and change-up in his purported repertoire.
