- "Hahaha! Well, they've certainly been playing like zombies."
- "Makes sense: the season is dead already."
- "I was wondering about the rotten stench, but thought it was our 1-11 home record."
And so on, and so forth. That aside, however, I like the idea. Mrs. SnakePit and I are big horror fans in general, and if I wasn't working, we would certainly be at the park for this one, since it combines two of our favorite things. Here are the details from the team's press-release.
The D-backs will host the first-ever Zombie Night this Friday at the D-backs vs. Phillies game at Chase Field. More than 1,000 Zombies are expected to attend a pregame Zombie Walk around the warning track at 5:45 PM.
Throughout the night, the D-backs will welcome the "un-dead" for a night full of fright that includes prizes and giveaways from the hit AMC show "Walking Dead," Zombiefied player headshots on dbTV and a Gila River Casinos postgame fireworks show set to Zombie-like music. There will also be a haunted maze with Zombie actors provided by 13th Floor Productions that all fans are welcomed to experience along the main concourse in front of the Coors Light Strike Zone. In addition, Baxter will designate kids as "Official Zombie Hunters" and multiple make-up artists will be available for kids to get their faces painted at the Phoenix Children's Hospital Sandlot.
Fans that purchase the Zombie Night package will receive a survival kit that includes a drawstring bag, T-shirt and mini-bat and can pick up their survival kit at the haunted maze. The D-backs encourage all Zombies to return on Aug. 2 for a special D-backs Zombie bobblehead give away for 20,000 "un-dead" fans. Tickets for both Zombie Night and the Zombie bobblehead giveaway are available by calling 602.514.8400 or online.
The game below might be a good warm-up and help you get into zombie killing mode for Friday...
