Sixth attempt to try and beat the Dodgers this season, in the third different city. We failed twice in Sydney, three times in Phoenix, so we'll see if we have any better luck in Los Angeles. Tonight's game marks the 2014 debut for the Diamondbacks of Ross, returning from a most unpleasant injury suffered last season. Perhaps he'll bring the team better luck than they've had to date [using "luck" in a broader sense than random chance; you tend not to go 4-14 with a run differential of -48, purely through bad breaks] He starts in left-field, replacing the slumping Mark Trumbo, who is 3-for-36 with one walk and 12 strikeouts since we left Coors Field, dropping his OPS almost 400 points.
Wade faced the Dodgers during the home series against them, and it didn't go too well, as he took the loss, giving up eight hits and a season-high three walks over five inning, resulting in five earned runs. The D-backs will also have do a lot better against Greinke, who started for Los Angeles in the same game: we managed only one run off him in 5.1 innings, and the final score of 8-5 was made to look a lot closer than it really was, by Arizona scoring three runs in the ninth. Let's just say, after the way the Diamondbacks played the last series against the Dodgers, there's no shortage of room for improvement.
