Mobile's Jake Lamb has gotten off to a somewhat slow start in his first season at AA, but he is starting to heat up a little. Tonight in 0-0 tie he hit a walk-off home run to give the Bay Bears the win. Lamb had 2 hits on the night and the night before he went 2 for 3 with a triple in the second game of their double header. It's the general rule of thumb around here. As soon as I write something negative about someone they make me eat my words. Lamb is one of the few upper level position prospects the Dbacks have that might help the team some time in the next couple of years.

Snake Stars
3 Stars: Andrew Chafin, Mobile 7 IP, 5 H, 3 BB, 6 K, 0 ER
2 Stars: Stryker Trahan, South Bend 2 for 4, 1 BB, 2 R, 1 DBL, 1 HR (2), 2 RBI, 2 SB
1 Star: Mike Jacobs, Reno 3 for 4, 1 R, 2 DBL, 1 RBI
0 Stars: Archie Bradley, Reno 4.1 IP, 7 H, 2 BB, 4 K, 4 ER, 1 WP, 1 HBP, L (1-2)

Triple A: Reno 2 Las Vegas 4. Archie Bradley was not on his game as he didn't get through 5 innings while allowing 4 runs on 7 hits and 2 walks while striking out 4. He also had a wild pitch and hit a batter. It was his first poor outing of the season and should quiet some of the critics for a spell who think he should be called up. No thanks to his agent who just had to open up his big mouth and put some undue pressure on Bradley to prove he should be called up. The offense didn't provide much support even though they had 10 hits. Mike Jacobs led the way going 3 for 4 with 2 doubles and an RBI.

Double A: Mobile 1 Birmingham 0. The pitchers were all the rage in this one and it wasn't settled until Jake Lamb homered with 2 outs in the bottom of the 10th inning for the walk-off win. It was Lamb's 2nd homer of the year and 4th hit in his last 8 at bats. Andrew Chafin was superb tossing 7 shutout innings on 5 hits and 2 walks with 6 strikeouts. The bullpen followed with 3 scoreless innings as Blake Cooper got the win.

High A: Visalia 1 @ Modesto 2. Hector Hernandez had a very good start but the offense couldn't get him the win as they managed just 1 run on 7 hits. Hernandez went 6 innings allowing 2 runs (1 earned) on 5 hits and a walk while striking out 5. Kevin Medrano had 2 of the team's 7 hits.

A: South Bend 4 @ Cedar Rapids 2. Stryker Trahan hit a 2-run homer in the 7th inning that proved to be the difference as the Silver Hawks won a close one. Trahan also had a double, a walk and 2 stolen bases in the game. Trahan is 4 for his last 9 and of his 10 hits on the year 6 have been for extra bases. But his K rate of 30 is pretty unsightly for a guy who is supposed to have pretty decent plate discipline. Adam Miller started and pitched 3 shutout innings on 1 hit with 4 strikeouts. Blayne Weller followed and went 4 innings allowing 2 runs and he earned the victory. Daniel Palka had 2 badly-needed hits including a double and Andrew Velazquez hit his 1st home run of the year.
