The Mets scored three runs on five hits in the first inning of the game tonight, and really, they never looked back. The whipping continued in the fourth inning, where they scored six runs on five hits this time, assisted by an error on A.J. Pollock. Our starter, Bronson Arroyo, was pulled in the fourth, and after that, the bullpen really quieted the Mets' bats. In addition to holding them scoreless, the bullpen sat down the Mets in order in the fifth, sixth, and ninth innings. It just wasn't enough to keep the team in the game.

Meanwhile, the offense wasn't exactly lighting it up in the bottom halves of the innings. It took until the fourth inning to get on base for the first time, via a walk, and then later that inning by a hit. One might have hoped that would trigger something from the team, but even after that, they only managed a handful of base runners and just three hits. All around a pretty pathetic game. More to follow, if you're horribly masochistic...
