The Dbacks have a group of minor league starters that includes Archie Bradley, Bo Schultz, Mike Bolsinger, Chase Anderson and Andrew Chafin. Their respective ERAs are 1.50, 2.31, 1.42. 0.00 and 0.87. Combined they have 48 strikeouts in 57 innings and a 3.0 K/BB ratio. And they've surrendered just 2 home runs. I might imagine that some combination of these guys could do no worse than what the team is getting from its current group of major league starters who have 49 strikeouts in 76 innings and have given up 13 home runs. Certainly there's someone in that group who could do better than Randy Wolf. Last night Bo Schultz went 6.2 innings allowing 1 run on 3 hits while striking out 8 and walking none. What am I missing here? And I could make the same case regarding relievers.

Snake Stars
3 Stars: Bo Schultz, Reno 6.2 IP, 3 H, 0 BB, 8 K, 1 ER, W (1-1)
2 Stars: Roger Kieschnick, Reno 4 for 5, 2 R, 3 DBL, 1 HR, 3 RBI
1 Star: Jimmie Sherfy, Visalia 1 IP, 0 H, 0 BB, 3 K, 1 SV (2), 9 K in 4 Innings
0 Stars: Daniel Palka, South Bend 0 for 4, 1 K, Hitting .087

Triple A: Reno 11 @ El Paso 1. Bo Schultz was dominating going 6.2 innings allowing just 1 run on 3 hits while striking out 8 and walking none. He could do as well Cahill or Delgado or McCarthy right now. The offense came to play as recent signee Roger Kieschnick had a huge game with 3 doubles a home run and 3 RBI. Didi and Cody each had a pair of hits and Didi now has a triple slash of .351/.442/.561.

Double A: Mobile 5 Montgomery 3. The Bay Bears overcame a 3-1 deficit in the 6th with a 4-run outburst off a Jake Lamb RBI single and a 2-run double by David Peralta. Starter Bryan Woodall was decent allowing 3 runs in 5+ innings, but it was the bullpen that sealed the deal. Willy Paredes, Jake Barrett and Matt Stites finished the game off with 3.1 hitless/scoreless innings. Peralta was 3 for 4 on the night and Sean Jamieson went 2 for 3 with a double.

High A: Visalia 7 @ Stockton 4. Mr. Hot and Cold Jesse Darrah had a good outing allowing 2 unearned runs on 4 hits and 3 walks while striking out 8 in 5 innings. Jimmie Sherfy earned his 3rd save striking out the side in the 9th and now has 9 Ks in 4 innings. What is this kid doing languishing in Visalia? If he was in the Cardinals organization he'd be in the majors right now. Can you say Michael Wacha? The top of the order went 8 for 15 as Kevin Medrano had 3 hits, Fidel Pena had 2 and Brandon Drury had 3 including a double and 2 RBI. Drury has picked up right where he left off last year hitting .295 with 4 doubles, 3 homers and 11 RBI in 10 games.

A: South Bend 4 Wisconsin 6. Blake Perry wasn't very effective allowing 4 runs over 3 innings. Blayne Weller allowed 2 more and the offense couldn't get over that hill. Andrew Velazquez went 2 for 4 with a double and stole his first base. He's got his average up to .256. Joe Munoz went 2 for 4 and he's hitting .323 though he has no walks and 8 strikeouts in 31 at bats. Daniel Palka went 0 for 4 and is now just 3 for 36 on the season.
