It seems the writing is on the wall for Randall Delgado, lifted after 3.1 innings tonight. He did have some bad luck, and received no help from the home-plate umpire, but six hits, three walks and three runs allowed just doesn't seem good enough. Still, we did have the lead, 4-3, but a two-run fifth for the Giants turned the tables. It looked like that would be it, especially after Arizona loaded the bases with no outs in the seventh, but couldn't get the tying run home from third, but Tony Campana's speed helped force a Kung Fu Error and brought that run home in the eighth. Joe Thatcher escaped a second and third, one out jam in the Giants half, and a scoreless ninth meant extras.
Campana and fellow bench-player Cliff Pennington combined for seven hits and three RBI, and were instrumental in giving us the lead in the tenth. Pennington singled, then stole second, and Campana floated his fourth hit of the night just over the second baseman's head, and Cliff scampered around to store. Addison Reed notched his third save with a perfect 10th inning. Elsewhere, Brad Ziegler had two scoreless innings, Miguel Montero a pair of hits and Paul Goldschmidt, Gerardo Parra and Mark Trumbo each reached base twice, with a walk and a hit apiece.
TolkienBard will be on the recap shortly, new daddy soco having crashed out on this one.
