Diamondbacks re-assign 15 players

he Arizona Diamondbacks made 15 roster moves today, according to D-backs’ Executive Vice President and General Manager Kevin Towers. The D-backs have 53 players in camp, 36 from the 40-man roster and 17 non-roster players.

No real shocks here, though perhaps a little surprised to see Charles Brewer, who played at the major-league level last season, given what feels like a fairly quick hook. Obviously, the process is going to be accelerated significantly this spring: by the time the team leaves for Australia on the 16th of March, we'll virtually be down to the 25-man roster, with a handful of additional players still active. Mostly pitchers being culled in this batch - two-third of those re-assigned, with one catcher, two infielders and two outfielders. I'd expect the remaining catchers to hang around, especially until Tuffy Gosewisch shows he has returned to full fitness.
