Spring Training Game #24: Gameday Thread

Back to meaningless baseball it is, then... Something the Cubs know a great deal about in recent years, I would imagine! What, too soon?

It's really weird, after having got all revved up over the weekend for contests which actually counted in Australia, to find myself having to remember that this afternoon's result doesn't matter at all. It must be kinda odd for the players, though probably less for McCarthy, since he didn't make the trip down under. Indeed, it's been a while since he has worked in public at all, with Brandon's last start coming all the way back on March 8, if I'm reading his Game Log right. Seems a very long time somehow. Still, the fact he's pitching today, however, would suggest he will also work the Chase Field home opener on Monday, since that would line up with his schedule.

And since writing the above, that would indeed seem to be the case:

For what it's worth, save a different starting pitcher, this is exactly the same line-up as the last spring training game played, a week past Sunday. It's like the team never went away...
