"I think we'll be active. I don't know if we'll get anything done. We will certainly try because we're still looking for ways to improve the ballclub. We're having lots of talks with lots of teams."
-- Derrick Hall
Arizona has already been fairly active this off-season, thanks probably to the new faces in the front-office, looking to make a statement and carve the team in their desired direction. We've signed a big free-agent in outfielder Yasmany Tomas, and dealt Didi Gregorius for a starting pitcher and young infield prospect, but few if any people think that will be it for the Diamondbacks. Perhaps the next few days will also bring a trade of Miguel Montero, who was very nearly dealt to the Dodgers, or maybe we'll look to move an outfielder, perhaps for more starting pitching. There's also the Rule 5 draft, but with our roster at 40, we would need to clear a spot if we are to pick anyone.
There are already deals being done in San Diego, with Jason Hammel having joined the Cubs on a deal reported to be for two years and $20 million, while the Cleveland Indians are rolling, gather Brandon Moss from the Athletics in exchange for prospect Joey Wendel. Feel free to post any further news in the comments below, We'll have one thread each day for general discussion, but if there is any particularly relevant Diamondbacks' news, that will get split off into its own thread. The winter meetings stream will be pinned to the front page, since it figures to be the main topic of interest this week.
