As we noticed in the introduction to our open thread, there had already been rumors that Miley would be on the move, and the hot stove appeared to go into overdrive a little while later. Here's how things unfolded subsequently through Twitter:
Lots of teams approaching #dbacks with trade proposals for Wade Miley and Mark Trumbo. Could drive up price on both players.

Source: Arizona close to a Wade Miley trade.

But who? And what for? Sounds like he's going to Boston!
Another team which had interest in Wade Miley has dropped out of negotiations with Arizona, convinced D'backs are close to deal w/ Red Sox.

Ooh! Sounds like he's REALLY going to Boston!
Sources: #Marlins, #Rangers out on Miley. Process of elimination points to #RedSox unless another team is involved.

Hang on... Not so fast...
The #Marlins still in picture for #Dbacks Miley
— Bob Nightengale (@BNightengale) December 10, 2014
Oh, wait...
#RedSox and #DBacks are close to a deal that will send Wade Miley to Boston, source says.
— Jon Morosi (@jonmorosi) December 10, 2014
No, really...
The #Redsox currently are not involved in any trade discussions w #Dbacks for Wade Miley.
— Bob Nightengale (@BNightengale) December 10, 2014
I'm so confused...
Source with knowledge of Red Sox-D'backs Miley talks: Arizona interested in young pitching in return; proposals exchanged; work to be done.
— Sean McAdam (@Sean_McAdam) December 10, 2014
[Throws computer out window, buries head in bucket]
Two officials from the #Redsox and #Dbacks say there are no active trade discussions involving a potential Wade Miley trade.
— Bob Nightengale (@BNightengale) December 10, 2014
So, Wade Miley is still here, and that was my afternoon entirely wasted. How was yours?
#Dbacks Dave Stewart say he discussed Miley with #RedSox, #Marlins and #Rangers
— Steve Gilbert (@SteveGilbertMLB) December 11, 2014
#Dbacks Stewart said return wasn't what they wanted so as of now nothing is happening on that front.
— Steve Gilbert (@SteveGilbertMLB) December 11, 2014
And, elsewhere...
Rival execs say they keep getting mixed signals on Trumbo's availability, that some with Dbacks say he's available, others say he's not.

Our chief weapon is confusion. Confusion and discord. Discord and confusion. Our two chief weapons are confusion and discord... And a slick ability for misinformation. Our three weapons are confusion, discord and a slick ability for misinformation... and an almost fanatical devotion to Ken Kendrick.... Our four...no... amongst our weapons.... amongst our weaponry...are such elements as confusion, discord....
I'll come in again.
GM Dave Stewart said Dioner Navarro and Alex Avila, catchers who could be available via trade, could be fits for Dbacks.

Tomorrow is the Rule 5 draft, getting under way at 10am Arizona time. The Diamondbacks will have the first pick, and we've got a primer post on that scheduled for the morning, taking a look at who we might choose and what it means.
