The Marlins, seeking a veteran starter, also have discussed trading Nathan Eovaldi or a quality pitching prospect to Arizona for left-hander Wade Miley (38-35, 3.79 in 3 1/2 seasons).
Looking to bolster their pitching staff with the addition of at least one arm, the Miami Marlins have seemingly turned their attention to pursuing Wade Miley of the Arizona Diamondbacks. The two teams have been talking and while there are no indications how close a deal might be, it seems that the two sides are at least exchanging names and Nathan Eovaldi has come up in discussions.
Wade Miley, LHP, Diamondbacks — Miley has become a popular trade target of a few teams, and while the Diamondbacks will listen, it will take a haul to get him. A lot of teams would give up a reasonable amount of prospects to get this young veteran, who is emerging. He made 33 starts last season and pitched 201⅓ innings, though he was 8-12 with a 4.34 ERA.
The Diamondbacks began interviewing external candidates for their scouting director position over the weekend, targeting a group of at least six known talent evaluators from rival clubs.
