Hall of Fame Results: Greg Maddux, Tom Glavine, Frank Thomas elected

After not electing anyone last year, the BBWAA somewhat made up for lost time, by adding three new names in the class of 2014.

To no great surprise, Greg Maddux topped the ballot, being mentioned on all but 16 of the 571 ballots cast: commence mass Internet abuse of those who left him off in 3...2...1..... Stlll, that 97.2% percentage, is the highest since Cal Ripken topped the 2007 voting with 98.5% support. Atlanta colleague Tom Glavine was also elected (91.9% support) as well as the Big Hurt, Frank Thomas (83.7%).

Among those not elected this time round were Craig Biggio, who fell two ballots short, at 74.8%, and Mike Piazza, who received 62.2%. Jack Morris got 61.5%, and is now off the ballot after 15 years. There was also no luck for any of the Diamondback-related players on the ballot. Bench coach Alan Trammell received 20.8% of votes, while Curt Schilling got 29.2% support. Both will, however, be back on the ballot in 2015, for their fourteenth and second attempts respectively. No further chances will be given to Luis Gonzalez or Richie Sexson, both failing to make the 5% cutoff in their first seasons, which would allow them to return next time. Gonzo got five votes (0.9%), but Sexson failed to receive a vote.

Here are the full results.
