Diamondbacks 9, Dodgers 4

The Dodgers come into the game with their first opportunity to clinch the National League West division title tonight, but early struggles Stephen Fife put that in doubt. A first inning home run gave Arizona a 2-0 lead, and they added more runs in the third inning, including one run off a bases loaded walk from Carlos Marmol.

Brandon McCarthy kept the Dodgers fairly quiet, allowing three runs in seven innings, including a solo home run to Yasiel Puig. He was helped out by some good defense and a generous out call at home plate in the sixth inning, which led to Adrian Gonzalez being tossed from the game. The Diamondbacks tried to add on early on but struggled, leaving the bases loaded three times, but finally broke through in the eighth inning, hammering the Dodgers bullpen for five runs to pad the lead. Brad Ziegler gave up a solo home run to Tim Federowicz in the ninth, but it was nowhere near enough as the Diamondbacks won 9-4, delaying Los Angeles's title celebration for at least one more day.
