Arizona came into tonight's game looking to hold off the Dodgers attempt at a sweep tonight. The offense came out swinging, leading off the game with three consecutive singles, bringing in the first run of the game before Hyun-Jin Ryu had even notched an out in the game. The top of the order was particularly effective, with Paul Goldschmidt racking up four hits and two RBIs. Tuffy Gosewisch had two doubles on the night as well.
Patrick Corbin's outing was not a smooth one, with the Dodgers putting runners in scoring position in each of the second through fifth innings. But he kept them from scoring in any of those situations, and the only run he allowed came from the last batter he faced, giving up a solo home run to Yasiel Puig with one out in the seventh inning. The bullpen came in and gave 2.2 hitless innings, finishing with a 1-2-3 inning from Brad Ziegler to close out the game for the save.
