The team has announced today that Eric Chavez and Miguel Montero have been activated from the 15-Day Disabled List. Tuffy Gosewisch and Matt Davidson have been optioned back to Reno to make room on the roster.
Chavez went on the DL exactly fifteen days ago with a left knee strain. There have been some worries as to Chavez's health this season, as this had been his second stint on the DL. Chavez himself said in Spring Training that he could only play so much or his body would not respond well. The Diamondbacks have responded to this by placing him in the starting lineup tonight.
Montero had been on the DL retroactive to July 29th with a lower back strain. He is also in the starting lineup tonight against the Padres.
The people who were called up for Chavez and Montero's DL stints were the ones sent back down. Matt Davidson made his MLB debut, and hit only .179 in 30 Plate Appearances. Sir Tuffy also made his MLB debut, albiet waiting a longer time than Davidson did, but was equally as effective at the plate putting up a .185 average in 29 PAs.
