Dbacks Minor League Round-Up 8/23

The walking wounded all played again last night for the AZL Dbacks and you could have gone and see them play for free out in Surprise versus the Reds. Chavy hit a home run, Miggy had a couple of RBI and Willie went 2 for 3. They should be about ready to come back, unfortunately it will be a day late and a dollar short.

Triple A: Reno 12 Salt Lake 6. Mike Bolsinger faced off against none other than Dontrelle Willis, and Willis wasn't very good allowing 8 runs in 3+ innings. Bolsinger was much better allowing 2 runs over 6 innings. The offense cranked out 12 hits and 12 runs. Mike Jacobs hit a 3-run homer in the 1st off Willis and Alfredo Marte followed immediately with a 2-run shot. Brad Snyder had a double, a triple and 2 RBI.

Double A: Mobile 3 @ Tennessee 2. Mark Serrano went 5+ innings allowing a couple of solo home runs. The offense scored 3 runs in the 6th inning featuring a 2-run double by Nick Evans. The bullpen followed with 3 scoreless innings as Jake Barrett got his 11th save.

Single A: Visalia 4 @ Stockton 2. Eddie McKiernan had a great start allowing 2 runs (1 earned) on 4 hits over 7 innings while striking out 8. Kaleb Fleck struck out the side in the 8th and RJ Hively pitched a scoreless 9th for his 11th save. Jake Lamb went 2 for 5 with a double and an RBI to lead the offense.

Low A: South Bend 3 @ Fort Wayne 4. Aaron Blair had a somewhat uneven start allowing 3 runs over 6 innings on 7 hits and 3 walks though he did strike out 7. Roidany Aguila went 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI and Brandon Drury hit his 15th home run.

Short Season A: Hillsboro 3 @ Eugene 2. The Hops scored a couple of runs in the 8th to turn a 1-run deficit into a 1-run lead. Ryan Doran had a decent start allowing 2 runs over 6 innings while striking out 7. Blayne Weller struck out 2 in the 9th for his 3rd save. Josh Parr and Yogey Perez-Ramos each had a couple of hits.

Rookie: Missoula 5 @ Grand Junction 3. Carlos Hernandez got through 5 innings allowing 2 runs (1 earned) and the bullpen let in just 1 more over the final 4 frames. Back-to-back doubles by Jose Queliz and Jake Mayers followed by an RBI single from Stryker Trahan did the damage in a 3-run 5th inning.

AZL Rookie: Dbacks 10 @ Red 7.Three rehabbing Dbacks did a bunch of offensive damage as Eric Chavez hit a 2-run homer, Miguel Montero drove in 2 with a pair of hits, and Willie Bloomquist went 2 for 3. Jacob Cordero went 4 for 5 to add to the offensive firepower. Reliver Jose Gonzalez got the win with 2 scoreless innings when the Dbacks scored 6 of their 10 runs over the final 3 innings.
