Consecutive hammering by the #1 and #2 teams have destroyed Snake's playoff hopes. Save a W + three Sv from Reed, it was all Mizzoula, who got two Wins and 12 strikeouts by Sabathia, while their offense was led by four HR and 10 RBI by their anchor Cabrera, plus three HR from Goldschmidt.
MyWieterGetzLongoria 5, Sofa King Juiced 5
The game of the week proved an exciting affair, with a lot of close categories. Leaders Sofa had the edge in hitting, Seager and Fielder each homering twice. Ethier did the same for Wieter, who came back in pitching, Kimbrel and Chapman each notching three Sv. Ziegler vultured two W for Sofa.
Phoenix Platypi 3, Waffles 7
Waffles solidified their hold on a post-season spot with a team ERA of 1.90 and 70 strikeouts. Cishek saved three and Wheeler fanned 12, while Byrd's two home-runs and seven RBI led the offense. Davis had three HR and drove in six for Phoenix, and Darvish struck out a league-high 22.
Alabama Slammers 5, Moved Upton 5
Both teams remained in playoff spots, but three points separate fourth and out of the postseason seventh. Alabama got multi-homer weeks from Butler and Lind, while Hamels (W + 17 K) led their pitching. Wieters + Laroche homered twice for Moved; Kuroda (W + 13 K) was their best pitcher.
Dirt McGrit 6, Got Grittiness? 2
McGrit sit 1/2 point outside the playoffs right now, so this win was important. Mauer (two HR, seven RBI) led their hitters, with Teheran (W + 11 strikeouts) doing the same on the mound. Gyorko homered three times for Grittiness, and Chacin matched Teheran, also posting a Win and 11 K's.
CompleteGameShutout 8, Blonde Streaks 2
Complete improved their chances of survival with a solid victory over cellar-dwellers Blonde. They swept the hitting categories, Heyward delivering three homers and Belt scoring eight Runs. Pitching was more evenly matched, Felman's W + 11 K for Blonde the best result, but Complete cruised to the win.
Space Wizard 6, The Fighting Amish 4
Wizard hit .325 and swept the offensive categories, with Trumbo (three HR, eight RBI) and Hitter of the Week Soriano (five HR, 18 RBI!) unstoppable. Ruggiano had two HR and five RBI for the Amish, who also had Pitcher of the Week Sale (two W, 14 K). Jansen's two Sv for Space were crucial.
