Diamondbacks 2, Pirates 6

Justin K. Aller

Brandon McCarthy only lasted 5 and 2/3 in his third start back from the Disabled List, and the D'Backs offense could only push across two runs. The Pirates got six, so ergo they won and the D'Backs lost.

The Pirates got on the board first on a Pedro Alvarez single in the third that plated two runs off McCarthy. The D'Backs briefly tied it up in the fourth on singles by Martin Prado and A.J. Pollock off of Pirates starter Gerrit Cole. This tie was alive until the fifth when the Pirates added two more runs on a Neil Walker double and an Andrew McCutchen single. This remained a stalemate until the bottom of the eighth when the Pirates added on two more on a Jose Tabata home run off off J.J. Putz to make it 6-2. The D'Backs did not walk off this game (mostly cause it's damn near impossible to do so on the road, and when you do it has to involve rain.) The Dodgers and Reds are currently winning so that's fun.

Full recap upcoming.
