Dbacks Minor League Round-Up 8/14: Bradley + 4 Toss No-Hitter

Archie Bradley and four relievers combined to throw a no-hitter for Mobile last night in a 2-0 win. Bradley went the first 5 innings walking 5 but not allowing a hit while striking out 7. Matt Gorgen pitched the 6th striking out 2. Derek Eitel got through the 7th also striking out 2 while walking 1. Willy Paredes contributed a perfect 8th with one strikeout, and Jake Barrett completed the feat in the 9th with his 10th save. Bradley had control issues needing 98 pitches in his 5 innings. The weather helped the cause as a strong wind blowing in kept a deep drive off Eitel in the yard and recorded as a loud out.

Double A: Mobile 2 @ Huntsville 0. Archie Bradley and four relievers combined on a no-hitter in a tight 2-0 win. Both Mobile runs were unearned and both runs were driven in by Ender Inciarte who was 3 for 4.

High A: Visalia 2 @ Bakersfield 2. Andrew Barbosa had his first sub-standard start in more than a month allowing 5 runs in 3+ innings, though only 2 of the runs were earned as the defense committed 3 errors. Gerson Montilla went 2 for 5 with 2 doubles and Sean Jamieson went 2 for 4 with a double.

Low A: South Bend 9 @ Lake County 10. The Silver Hawks lost a wild one to Lake County who scored twice in the bottom of the 10th after South Bend had scored once in the top half of the inning. Blake Perry wasn't his best allowing 7 runs (5 earned) over 5 innings. The bullpen was effective until Henry Garcia got tagged in the 10th for the loss. JImmy Sherfy made his first appearance since being promoted from Hillsboro providing 1 shutout inning with a hit and a walk. Socrates Brito went 2 for 5 with a triple and 2 RBI to lead the offense. Short Season A: Hillsboro 2 Salem-Keizer 0. Ben Eckels is getting on a bit of a roll of late and tossed 6 shutout innings last night on 3 hits lowering his ERA to 3.27. The typically anemic Hops offense scratched together 2 runs to give Eckels what he needed. The bullpen added 3 scoreless innings with Blayne Weller earning his first professional save. Brian Billigen led the offense going 2 for 3 with a walk, a double and an RBI.

Rookie: Missoula 12 Grand Junction 16. There wasn't much pitching to be found in this one as both teams combined for 28 runs on 31 hits. Daniel Palka went 2 for 2 with 2 walks, a double and 4 RBI.

AZL Rookie: Dbacks 4 @ Cubs 13. Kurtis Kostuk got rocked for 7 runs in 2+ innings and the Dbacks were never in this one.
