Yes, Eaton's first Tweet in a month marks a sad day in the history of Diamondbacks' facial hair, as his mustache is no more. For two games, it flew across the firmament at Chase, providing an endless source of Super Mario and 70's adult movie jokes, but it has ceased to be. It is an ex-mustache. It has shuffled off his face, and gone to join the choir invisible. [We'll take the rest of the Dead Parrot sketch as read, shall we?] I think the main reason for the 'stache-cide can be found in this article, where Eaton says "My wife hates it. Yesterday I came out of the locker room and she said, 'What is that?' " She probably made him sleep on the couch. :) We should discover the truth later:

Ooh. So there's still hope for a resurrection! I suspect that its disappearance may well have to do with the fact we won big the first game after its arrival, only to suffer the disappointing loss yesterday. Baseball players are notoriously superstitious, so if the 'stache has started a winning streak, Adam would probably have told his wife (in a respectful and adoring manner, naturally) to deal with it. Meanwhile, probably not coming back is Alfonso Soriano [now, that's what I call a smooth segue!], scratched from the Cubs' line-up tonight, as it appears a deal to send him to the Yankees is just about completed. Given his career .989 OPS at Chase, this is probably a good thing.
Elsewhere, Miguel Montero says he feels better than yesterday, with the MRI showing only a bit inflammation in his back, and no apparent structural damage. Still being kept out of the line-up tonight, and if it's anything like last night, he won't be pinch-hitting either. You may recall, we saw Patrick Corbin in that role during extra innings yesterday, which went about as well as you'd expect from a man coming to the plate with a career .123 average and 35 strikeouts in 81 at-bats i.e. he struck out on three pitches. It does leave the bench perilously thin, and our bullpen is also a bit sweaty round the edges too, so hopefully Miley will be able to go deep into this one.
Dodgers have come back home and begin a four-game series against the Reds in Los Angeles. That one kicks off about 30 minutes after ours gets under way, though the Dodgers will probably win on a forfeit or something.
