I think most fans were surprised when Randall Delgado was brought up to take the spot opened by Brandon McCarthy's injury. But as many of us surmised, he will not take the upcoming start. Kirk Gibson announced Tyler Skaggs will be the starting pitcher tomorrow evening in St. Louis against the Cardinals.
This will be Skaggs's second start of the 2013 season. Skaggs was brought up to the team last week as the 26th man to start the opening game of the Memorial Day double-header. He performed admirably - six shutout innings, just three hits and nine strikeouts against the Texas Rangers.
It is expected that Delgado will return to Reno tomorrow.
